BIO

From an early age, I have possessed an innate curiosity for how the world works. Large swaths of my childhood were spent avidly drawing and making things from sticks and leaves in the garden. I’m grateful I grew up in a time that didn’t have iPads or big flat screen TVs. Conventional subjects at school such as maths or science never held my attention. I was far more invested in practical subjects like Art, Tech and Outdoor Ed. Once I finished school, I was drawn to Product Design, a course that taught creativity and real-life problem solving, as it was a natural continuation of my established skills and interests.

For my final project as a Product Design student, I have designed a Karcher inspired hand held drill, complete with a grout cleaner attachment. I drew inspiration from as many Karcher design elements as possible when creating this drill. The form of the handle and trigger combined with the angled cutaway create a product that aesthetically fits in with other Karcher products — as does the classic yellow and black to indicate interaction points. Hidden screws and minimal part lines also keep a clean and polished look.

This final project has been a culmination of all my life experience thus far, from playing with sticks and mud in the garden to pushing myself to new levels of discovery and ability throughout my time at university. I am thankful for the experiences I have had as they have all contributed to the designer I am today.
